Money in the magical world of "Harry Potter" is broken down into gold galleons, silver sickles, and bronze knuts.
And while J.K. Rowling clearly explained how each of those coins relate to each other (and just how many of them Harry inherited), we've never really known how much wizard money would be worth in the muggle world...until now.
Redditor aubieismyhomie broke out every reference to money in the magical series to approximate how all those galleons and knuts translate to American dollars and cents. Here's how the numbers shake out, at least according to one very well-researched Reddit post.
One gold galleon = $25
One silver sicklet = $1.50
One bronze knut = $.05
Keep reading to see just how much money Harry and his friends spent on wands, broomsticks, and earwax-flavored jelly beans over the years.
Harry's holly and phoenix core wand cost $175 at Ollivander's wand shop in Diagon Alley. The wizard price was seven galleons.

On his first ride on the Hogwarts Express, Harry spent 11 sickles and 7 knuts, or $18, on chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor beans to share with Ron.

Turns out, being a Hogwarts student is pretty pricey. At nine galleons, a copy of an "Advanced Potion Making" textbook will run you $225.
