April Fools' Day is upon us, and so the trickery of news outlets and companies has begun. But the moderators on /r/asoiaf— a community dedicated to discussion about George R.R. Martin's novels and the TV adaptation "Game of Thrones"— are having fun with the psuedo-holiday.
Each subreddit can customize its banner, the image and links that appear at the top of the community. Normally, the /r/asoiaf banner looks like this:
But on April 1, subscribers were treated to a hyped up version. Referencing the epic "Cleganebowl" theory, the banner is now an animated GIF of epic proportions:
The "GET HYPE" text repeating throughout the GIF is Cleganebowl-believers favorite tagline. We actually aren't sure what the photoshopped fetus of Tyrion represents, other than pure hype.
The believers of the theory — which postulates The Hound and The Mountain are going to fight to the death— have more than enough evidence to back their claims. Ian McShane, a new cast member for "Game of Thrones" season six, confirmed the Hound's return this season. Combined with actors hinting about the theory, and book evidence to back up the idea, we're pretty certain Cleganebowl will happen in season six.
Head over to /r/asoiaf for a full-view of the banner and quality discussion about the books, show, and theories.
